About 5 years ago I began to get back and sciatic pain. Been to many doctors including two specialists who did nothing for me. Then I began to research the net for exercises.

About a year and a half ago a neighbor was throwing out a bench, I brought it my garage and over a period of weeks acquired a squat rack, 2 barbells, adjustable dumpbells and lots of plates of various sizes from .75 for small increments to 3 pairs of 20kg plates – about a total of 200kg of weight! Added a nice big piece of new carpet, paint on the walls, couple of mirrors and various photos on the wall for motivati0nal purposes. Oh, I also had a proper pull up bar bolted onto the brick wall, I have everything I need to get super strong and practice the big three – bench press, squat and deadlift religiously three times at week plus other assistance exercises.

My soon to be ex husband did not like me working out, even though I had all kinds of health problems and would make my life hell – he is an insecure piece of s*&!

I persevered with my training and it paid off BIG time, not only the back/sciatic pain was gone, I lost fat, became more energetic and confident people would comment how i looked good etc. Another benefit was the end of my bad marriage, I had to choose between the pig on the couch and the iron, I chose the iron and have never been happier – there is no end to the benefits of pumping iron and I will never stop. My two biggest problems were my back pain and my husband – the dead lift got rid of them both!!!
